Lala’s Dream Center’s major service is helping young adults with Down Syndrome and/or Intellectual developmental disabilities, ages 18 and older, step into their greatness through an adult day program focused on activities of daily living, community exposure, leisure activities, and job training and personal development.
The occupational area provides job matching, training, and exposure by connecting participants with organizations looking to accommodate and hire a diverse workforce. Understanding, many people may lack knowledge of the careers that suit their abilities, each participant will be analyzed to identify their skills, abilities, and interests to determine possible job paths.
The academic focus on each participant’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and accommodating services that extends from High School to increase each individual learning capacity. The program provides an exciting and stimulating classroom environment with activities in reading, social studies, science, writing, math and technology.
The recreational area focuses on giving participants community access through field trips and outings that allow participants to engage in ways not otherwise possible. Local museums, sporting events, restaurants, theatres, and parks are all examples of leisure activities that will be incorporated on a recurring basis. A primary focus of the organization, supportive care aims to make activities of daily living easier. From bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal prep, the team’s compassionate staff will work with participants hands on to relive the stress and difficulties of doing these tasks alone.
